The kids just got spirited away to their dad’s house for the three-day weekend, hurrah! But my last-minute ‘plan the weekend’ tendencies have, once again, shot me in the foot, boo.
See, I was looking at the Waterfront Blues Festival’s website earlier in the week, but didn’t commit the schedule to memory. And now that the kids are gone, the weather’s cooperative and I have the time to check it out? The site is down, down, down.
(Update, 2:23 pm: The site’s back up, and I’m heading in right now to check it out…!)
OregonLive’s dedicated Blues Festival section keeps pointing back to the WBF site itself for the schedule, so that’s no real help. Both Willamette Week and The Mercury must believe that blues are just for the old fogies don’t fit their demographic, so there’s nothing of use there.
But…wait a minute. I’m still getting the dead tree version of the Oregonian, aren’t I? (I have a long-standing love-hate relationship with my newspaper subscription that’s mellowed into a ‘will subscribe ’cause it keeps friends employed’ tolerance, even though I never read it much these days…)
I’d better pull out yesterday’s edition from the pile of unread newspapers & see if there’s a print schedule there…
In the meantime – if you’re going, tell me when and for whom, will you?

Canned Heat – 5:30pm
I just saw on the news that Isaac Hayes played Theme from Shaft last night. How cool must that have been? I’m seriously bummed that I missed it.
Elvin Bishop is playing Saturday night…
