Summer in PDX – time to check out happy hours!

Maybe it’s just me – but I’m more likely to do the happy hour excursion with colleagues after a crazy work day during the summertime.

We try to find a place with room for all (preferably on a patio somewhere where it’s not too hot, not too cold…) Food? Gotta have it. Drink specials? Sure – but we’ll settle for decent prices on pitchers, or a few standby house drinks if they’ve got them.

We’re not fussy, nor are we part of the ‘in crowd’ – so it’s primarily the location/convenience that drives us to places like Produce Row or Plan B, for example. But lately, we’ve been dropping into clarklewis for their happy hour menu.

Clarklewis? Really? Yep – really. And though it’s not on the website, their happy hour menu is worth the visit. You can get a small selection of drinks – a house red, house white, sidecar, martini (gin or vodka), or greyhound for five dollars. Small plates of food range from 2-5 dollars. Bottles of wine are 20 bucks a piece. And a group of five can spend an hour or two decompressing for just over ten dollars per person, when all is said and done.

An hour or so later, I’m still decompressed – and craving another glass of that crisp French white wine I was drinking not so long ago. While I rummage through my meagre wine cellar, tell me – where do you like to go for happy hour during the summer in PDX?

Betsy–Thanks! I had no idea. I stopped deigning to patronize CL a couple of years ago after their lunch entrees went north of $12 (seriously, guys).
