Coyotes on Mt. Tabor?

You tell me. I am still waiting for something to show up on the news Web sites or on TV. This morning, while walking my dog one block away from the east side of the park, I saw a coyote. It was on the other side of the street, heading our direction, and passed right by us like we weren’t there.

Then, tonight while walking my dog in the exact same place, I HEARD a group of them up in the park, howling. Now, it could have just as easily been a bunch of teenagers pulling a Halloween trick, but from the camping I’ve done in Central Oregon, I’m pretty sure I know a group of coyotes when I hear them.

All I can think about is the family that lives next to the park that has chickens – I hope they are safe!

I can’t vouch for Mt Tabor, but I know coyotes live in McLeay Park in NW. I’d catch the bus near there late at night, and see them rambling along.

I live in a busy area of Felony Flats, and while I haven’t seen coyotes yet, I’ve seen raccoons, opossums, and cute little bunny rabbits. So far, the only thing that’s tried to attack me is a pit bull.

Crazy.

I’ve seen one on the Springwater Corridor right behind Powell Butte.

There are lots of coyotes in Boise, I hear (o:

Raccoons are hell on chickens, too, and there are lots of them in Portland.

We have seen a coyote on Mt. Tabor two times in the past month, both times on the north side just above Belmont st

I too live on the North side of Tabor and a coyote was spotted and heard in my yard recently. It was right before my three weeks of garbage was picked up. Yes, the inability of the collectors to pick up debris on a scheduled basis was due to weather conditions was unfortunate. I had three weeks worth and maybe the residents should have been cautioned about leaving their debris on the curbside waiting. Could this have attracted coyotes? I think so!

Yup! We live on Belmont on the north side of Mt. Tabor. My wife stared down a coyote in our backyard this morning around 7am.

I’m pretty sure we saw a fox tonight on the west side of Mt. Tabor. I only found reference to sightings on Mt. Tabor to coyote so was wondering if a fox has been seen as well. What we saw was much smaller than a coyote with a nice bushy tail, wide face, wide ears, light in color. It was around 8:30 PM.

Yup, saw a coyote today on the north side of Tabor off Pine this afternoon just before dusk. It passed through the yard and was heading south (toward the park).

I saw a coyote tonight near my house by 78th and Salmon. I was walking my two dogs and my cat (yes he goes on walks with us) and the coyote stared us down. He seemed interested in my cat. As we approached he stood his ground and watched us. Once we got closer he ran away on Salmon towards 80th.

I also saw a coyote at sunrise back in October on the north edge of Mt. Tabor Park, but just south of Belmont.

Should I be concerned about my cat’s safety?

A coyote will take a cat or a small dog, so yes, be wary. Your presence won’t necessarily be a deterrent.

Saw one! Middle of the morning, 8:30! Being pursued by two neighborhood dogs right down the middle of Scot Drive. Very healthy and quick!
