Over the past year, The Dandy Warhols have been host to a few bands at their studio – The Odditorium – in NW Portland. These bands have joined the Dandy’s to produce some collaborative music as a benefit for the Three Rivers Lan Conservancy. I watched the below video last evening and was blown away. Who’d a thunk these bands different styles would meld together so well.

The project – called Breathe Easy, pulled in the talents of local musicians and bands touring through Portland. Artists include The Raveonettes, The Black Angels, J Mascis, Saul Williams, Spindrift, The Bravery and of course, The Dandy Warhols. I have seen many of these bands tour through PDX in the past couple of years and never knew there was a secret between them all. Oh, how I would love to be the fly on the wall there.
I have enjoyed the Dandy Warhols music for years. One of the best shows I ever went to was when they collaborated with 4 different graffiti artists. These guys had huge canvases hanging from the wall in the Wonder Ballroom and proceeded to make art while the Dandys played. Such an amazing night. A group of photos from the event.
October 21 will see the first 12 tracks available of this compilation. They will be sold digitally and 100% of the profits will go to the Three Rivers Land Conservancy, a non-profit that works to conserve and preserve land by the Clackamas, Tualatin and lower Willamette rivers.
