@Heather - Excellent! Thanks for filling us in. I need to set my region as well, as I've moved to a new account this year and haven't finished filling out my profile.

I'm registered as (surprise, surprise) Metroknow.

Thanks!

More great reasons to do NaNoWriMo. Portland is a great NaNoing city. I hope I'll be able to make some of the write-ins this year.

Thanks for the post! I'm one of two Municipal Liaisons for Portland (NaNoSpeak for local organizer). We'll be having a kick-off event at the Central Library on Sunday, 26 October, 2:30-4. Everyone planning to participate and especially those considering it who want to know more are welcome to attend. Info will be posted in our regional forum on the NaNoWriMo website:

http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/63

There are also plans in the works for write-in events starting at 12:01am on November 1 if you can't wait another second to start your novel.

When you set up your NaNoWriMo account, be sure to select your local region so your novel's wordcount will be added to our regional total.
