Now that’s a bread of a different… errr… flour.

You know, I never got around to going to New Cascadia Traditional’s for Thanksgiving goodies as I failed to get out of work early and then I had to run and meet the boyo and some friends for my last chance to see Let the Right One In.

Yes, getting to see the movie was worth it. Yes, I paid for not having any gluten free goodies.

I swore that I was not going to let Christmas be the same disaster!

SO… with my good friend who was visiting from California in tow (I was intent on showing her everything I loved about this town), we arrived at New Cascadia Traditional’s Saturday afternoon! I’d finally made it and I was not disappointed!

We ordered a few cookies to see how the sweets would go and a loaf of Sourdough for Sunday Brunch. As we walked away with our purchases we decided we’d try a snicker doodle tout de suite! They were sweet, soft and yummy, begging for a cappuccino to accompany it. I was a very happy girl. The cookies were dense and I felt like eating just one was enough, but that made the cookie all the better in my eyes. You know, like elven bread.

I used the sourdough the next day as I was making what some call “toad in the hole” or “eggs in a basket” for breakfast. I liked the consistency of it and it was nice and crunchy with my sloppy egg. Made for a good fried bread to sop it all up with. My friend Pocket thought it was great too, and she had no reason to eat it, save curiosity. I’m gonna have to try it with dinner and warmed up next time. I’ll probably have to try some of their pastries too… you know, since I already had the cookies.

If you’re concerned with the amount one would use and the ability for the bread to keep, New Cascadia offers rolls or the loaves can be frozen.

So there you have it! This gluten free (mostly!) girl is thrilled to have found New Cascadia Traditional’s in time for the holidays.
