Bakery Bar Part Deux

Kerns and Laurelhurst residents rejoice, you’ve just been handed a tasty new neighbor. The cake masters at Bakery Bar have expanded their tiny, delicious empire beyond their busy Water St. birthplace, opening a new bakery and cafe at 2935 NE Glisan St., between 29th & 30th Ave., just half a block from Pambiche.

delicious and beautiful!

Bakery Bar’s cakes definitely take center stage –they can custom craft just about anything, but their rotating stock is fantastic as well– while the cafe provides a warm, welcome place to park your butt for a tasty treat and hot cup of Stumptown Coffee. The new Glisan St. shop will soon feature the same soup and sandwich menu that consistently pleases at their Water St. location. Additionally, they will soon be adding a large veranda and herb garden directly in front of the glass roll-up door.

For me, aside from the prime location (I could ride my bike there is less than five minutes, while sleeping), another very attractive feature of the new shop is their abundant bicycle parking and proximity to the little gem known as Oregon Park,

While Bakery Bar’s cafe doesn’t offer the myriad of choices available at nearby Crema (‘a.m. buns’ are to-die-for), what pastries are available are amazingly well executed and delicious beyond description. I’m especially keen to the savory biscuits. What’s more, the Bakery Bar look and feel is far more inviting than most other cafes. The unassuming exterior breaks way to an inviting and relaxing interior full of rich, exposed wood –and the goods are delivered without the attitude that plagues many cafes.

If you’re in the neighborhood, by all means stop by. The cafe is open Tuesday through Sunday, 8:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m. (closed Monday). Lean more at http://bakerybar.com/.

That sounds really great. However, how does it benefit Kenton residents who do not live anywhere near NE 29th & Glisan?

Zoinks! In my haste, I failed to get the right ‘K’ neighborhood… It’s actually Kerns. Nice catch, Sadie. The piece has been corrected.
