DJtv’s Weekend Roundup: Bargain Hunter is as Bargain Hunter Does

Did you read Dieselboi’s post about Estate Sales? If you didn’t, you should. Myself, I can’t wait until the most beautiful day in June when all the garbage exchanges houses at the Laurelhurst Garage Sale (they haven’t announced their 2009 date yet), but until then, I’ll have to live with this weekend’s Bargain Hunting 101 at an even bigger venue this year, the Crystal Ballroom. Over 50 local vendors will display all their wares on Sunday, February 1 from noon to 6 p.m. Lesson #1 from bargain hunters: Get There Early!

Also in the recession proof entertainment guide, OMSI is $2 this Sunday, and every ~~Sunday in February~~ (oops, thanks, reader, for pointing out my error!) first Sunday of the month. Deal!

I know this is hard to believe, but I really could care less about chocolate. I mean, give me some really great fries, and I’m there, but chocolate? Meh. However, I realize I’m nearly alone in this feeling, so, there IS a Chocolate Festival this weekend at the World Forestry Center on Saturday and Sunday.

Cool Nutz and Three 6 Mafia is playing at the Roseland on Friday, January 30. Really, I just wanted to say Nutz with a ‘z’ in a blog post.

The last weekend tip comes with the obligatory story: I twirled baton in the 70’s and 80’s. I had a sassy sequined outfit, fire batons, yes, I had it all. I’ll never forget when the crazy mom pulled her kid from the dance competition because we were dancing to an instrumental version of Prince’s Raspberry Beret. In honor of prudes everywhere, there’s a Prince Tribute Band, Erotic City, at the Devils Point at 5305 SE Foster on Saturday, January 31. Apparently if you wear purple, you get special discounts!
