Here’s what we’ve found as we’ve traveled the local PDX web (complete with our comments):

everydaydude: Broadway Books Update!

Broadway Books will survive – thanks to several dozen PDX Twitter-ers, bloggers, and/or emailers! I didn’t stop by to grab my burrito (although I could have) – knowing that I helped support a local business is reward enough for me. See next link for KATU report…

It’s not often you can use that phrase, but Chris Snethen uses it to applaud The Oregonian’s editorial about the Interstate Bridge replacement.

Kismet: You know you’re from Oregon if….

Here’s just a sampling…

- You use the statement “sun break” and know what it means.
- You know all the important seasons: Almost Winter, Winter, Still Raining (Spring), Road Construction (Summer), Deer & Elk season (Fall).
- You are sitting at a red light surrounded by Subaru Legacy Outbacks.
- You know a bride & groom that registered at REI.

Drop by Kismet’s site, read her list, and offer up a few of your own in her comment thread…

Portland Mercury – Blogtown, PDX | Live Music: Start Shows Earlier, or Stay Home Grampy?

I’m clearly in the ‘why don’t they start the goddamn shows earlier? Jeez!’ camp along with Willie – but you can go see if Willie and I are just two old farts, or ahead of the curve by taking The Merc’s poll…!

World Arts Foundation, Inc. | Keep Alive the Dream | 24th Annual Tribute to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

I’ll be at the Highland Christian Center at 7600 NE Glisan Street on Monday, From the site:

“This year’s program features a variety of performers, including traditional gospel with performances by and including: Linda Hornbuckle/Janice Scroggins, No Kidding Children’s Choir, University of Oregon Gospel Choir, Gospel Music Workshop of America (Portland & Vancouver Chapter), Royalty (Seattle WA), Michelle Lang and Still Water(Seattle, WA). Other performances include the famed Jefferson Dancers from Jefferson High School and the legendary Beyons and a host of talented young people throughout the program.”

I’m there because the Buckman Chorus will be performing at 3:05. But we might have to head out a little early to see some of the other participants.

If you can’t make it? It’ll be airing live on KBOO all day.

Note this tidbit near the end of the article:

“I ran into Matt Mount, executive distiller at Portland’s House Spirits, who gave me the scoop on the distillery’s ongoing Recession-Proof Mixology happy hour events. The series, which began last Wednesday at Ten 01, moves to a different bar each Wednesday with $5 cocktails featuring House products from 5-7 pm. This week’s RPM (already passed) takes place at Clarklewis, and it continues Jan. 21 at Eastburn and Jan. 28 at Roux. Mount says he and House colleague Ryan Magarian will continue the series through the end of February and hopefully through the year. Future locations may include “a month of gentleman’s clubs, starting with Devil’s Point. ”

Sorry, there’s no more info about the series on the House Spirits website – and yes, I looked…!
