About a week ago, I started to collect information about a post focusing on what people were doing for the Inauguration in Portland.
After being buried under a big volume of information, I realized that just about everyone is having an inauguration party and that it was nearly impossible to write about them all. So, if I miss your party, please add it to the comments and accept my sincerest apologies for losing research…um….steam.
Here’s what I did find:
Go to MoveOn.Org’s website and put in your zip code, it’ll tell you about parties closest to you. Most of them are bars/restaurants that are having specials and festivities. This is probably the most comprehensive list of what’s going on that night, sorted by zip code. Nice!
Also, if you want to get gussied up, you can pay around $85 to have a kicking good time at the Portland Inaugural Ball, held at Scottish Rite Center in Portland, 1512 SW Morrison. Proceeds go to the Oregon Food Bank and the Royal Rosarian Field Trip Fund.
A big group of musicians will take over at the Roseland Theater for a free, all ages show celebrating Obama’s Inauguration. Pick up your free tickets at Music Millennium or One Stop Records. Among those performing: Shock, Marlon McClain, Lilla D’Mone and The Brazilian Lions, Devin Phillips, Cool Nutz, Animal Farm, Mic Crenshaw ft. Gen. Erik, Serge Severe, Slicksidedown, Linda Hornbuckle & Janice Scroggins.
