@morganpdx – I’m not sure how much those pots cost, but you should check out SmartPots.com. These things look pretty darn amazing and I’m gonna try them this year for some specific plants.

Yay for overabundance. They are just seeds right?

I started about 70 starts a week ago. Mint, basil, cantoloupe, dahlias, lettuce. Problem is, they’re all, you know, sprouting, and I realized I HAVE NO PLACE TO PUT THEM!!! Crap. So I picked up 60 bucks of black plastic pots from 7 dees, and I’ll be planting them outside soon. I guess I got a bit carried away…

the last frost date is actually at the end of april, so keep that in mind when reading about planting. we’re getting our indoor seed starting set up ready, after doing seed starts in the window last year. this year it’s real grow lights, which should give us more success early on. a few things (poppies, carrots) will specify that planting before the last frost date is preferred, other stuff will either perish in the cold, or soldier on, hard to tell. @mathpunk - You should easily be able to grow something in a pot either outside or just inside. Maybe try some herbs or get a small strawberry plant. The garden stores are usually pretty good with us "deer in the headlights" people and our weird questions. Good luck!

NOTHING! I did some digging and weeding in early February, but every time I’m going to plant something I’m either sick or it’s raining. I should do some indoor stuff instead.

I saw bunches of pretty purple flowers sprouting amongst the trees in Ladd’s Addition. Except for one clump, it looked like seeds had been tossed randomly. Natural or planted, it was a pleasant reminder that Spring is just a couple weeks away!

We have only a tiny apartment but we have enormous south-facing windows. I think this means we should be able to grow SOMEthing but having zero experience and being a life-long citydweller, I’m not sure how expensive and time-consuming such a project will be. I guess the next step is to wander over to the garden supply store and look helpless?
