If you weren’t able to make it to the re-opening of Mississippi Studios on Wednesday night, I have a few photos of some of the bands who took to the new stage. But first, I have to give kudos to the Studio’s business partners Alicia Rose and Jim Brunberg (shown below). The space is simply amazing and given the roster of upcoming shows, here’s hoping you have an opportunity to check out the space in the near future.

Walking into the new space, you could smell the fresh paint. I arrived shortly before 6PM and there were already a handful of folks milling at the bar getting beers and/or ordering food. Studio staff were moving about quickly to get any last-minute items in place before the rush of people poured inside.

The Dimes were in the midst of their soundcheck when I arrived. In the new space, there is a garage door that keeps sounds from the venue space out of the bar/restaurant area. However, the garage door can be opened, providing another side of the bar for those who are seeing a show.

The crowd who assembled for the re-opening festivities was varied across many demographics. I even spotted Scott McCoughey (REM, Minus 5, Venus 3) in the audience. One of my favorite moments was chatting with JT who was born and raised in Mississippi. Everyone was in great spirits and that extended to the performances throughout the evening. With over a half dozen performers lined up for the evening, the sets were short, but served as a great teaser/sampler for those who may be unfamiliar with a particular band.

So excited. Thanks for the review. I’m really glad they chose to re invent themselves instead of finding a new location.

Great news, and great review!

I wanted to go to this but got some free badass Blazer tickets offered to me last night, so I had to choose . . .
