Melissa Lion — she of the ““distinctive, curly mop of black hair”, according to The O — reminded me earlier today that the latest Back Fence PDX is happening at the Mission Theater this Wednesday at 7:30 pm. And because she’s all “lively and animated” — not to mention pleasant and/or perky (I secretly hate her for it, of course, as I am almost always Ms. Grumpy McBitchtastic by comparison) how can I fail to pass along the news?
This will be the sixth Back Fence event, and they’ve thankfully moved it to a place with air conditioning, which is handy given the lovely weather we’ve been having lately (loved the second one at Urban Grind, but the eleventy-zillion people crowded into the joint created a bit of a sauna effect. See? There’s that Grumpy persona coming out to play.)
But don’t get too comfy on those couches at the Mission — Melissa promises that “the storytellers will kick your ass in the most pleasant way possible. You’ll hear tales from people baring their souls including Tara Dublin of 94.7 fame; Portland emcee and activist, Mic Crenshaw; Shelley McLendon from the always amazing Liberators, and Nate Angell aka @xolotl.” (I know Mr. Angell can deliver a mighty ass-kicking on his own..you should see what he does to those who can’t pronounce his Twitter handle!)
