My biggest pet peeve by them is when they stop right in the middle of a crosswalk while waiting for their light to turn, and you're presented with the option as a pedestrian trying to cross the street (that YOU have the light for) to either walk in front of the horse or behind (not recommended!) it. Work or walk along 5th & 6th street long enough, and you’ll routinely see the mounties doing things that drivers or bikers without a badge would never be able to do without getting a ticket. Prior to the return of the busses they would walk southbound on 6th in the transit lanes (that's oposing traffic) and would occasionally bust someone near by. Pretty curious stuff to see a mounty cornering a homeless guy with his horse. Recently they've been training new officers in the North Park blocks; trotting, running patterns, saddle excercises. It’s been fun to watch them on the bus mall.
