A little bird (aka the adorable and fabulous Melissa Lion) got me hooked on live storytelling events that we here in Portland are so lucky to have by introducing me to Back Fence PDX. I started going to Back Fence shows last November, which had by this time moved to a bigger venue since word had spread and others wanted to take part in the fun. The best way to describe it would be to say that it’s much like This American Life but live, showcasing people who live in…well, Portland… and with beer. What could be better!?
Well tonight, Back Fence PDX, Mortified and True Stories are coming together to bring us Word to Your Mother – 6 different performers sharing stories about any and all aspects of “Mother.” This isn’t just for moms, though! Oh no! We all have stories to share that have something to do with a mom, either because you are a mom or you know one… you know, like your own mom or someone else’s mom (there are A LOT of moms out there!). In celebration of these fine women, let’s all gather ’round for some great stories, drinks and CUPCAKES!
That’s right, there will be cupcakes.
Have you purchased a present for your mom (or fellow parental unit/ mom you know… ) for Mother’s day yet?? If by some chance you haven’t AND you would like to do something for the moms in your life that’s not only unexpected, but early (Hell! Why not just make it a Mother’s day looooonnnnggg weekend?), you should treat her to a night out of great stories tonight at the Bagdad. Also, there will be cupcakes. Did I mention that??

How cold anyone not go? Sigh… they could not go if they were… say a mom… who’d been sick all week and is now dealing with a sick offspring… Sad isn’t it.
I expect you to absorb every once of storytelling and revel in it!!!
I’m posting late, but I totally hope that this event rocked as hard as it looks like it would. Next year, I’m totally planning ahead and getting me and @KoekjeMom into this.
