Soon, you can go there by train.
Where does the time go? Seems only years ago the MAX Green Line started tearing up the I-205 Freeway, remodeling the landscape, keeping traffic interesting. All that fun is coming to fruition. In just sixteen days the Green Line will begin carting folks from PSU to Clackamas Town Center.
Saturday, September 12 the locals will be throwing a welcome party, the Ramona Street Fair. There will be kiddie activities, food booths and an afternoon of live music. For more details, click here.
Does this make The New Copper Penny a destination spot?

I’m really excited about the new Max line opening up on Foster. I moved to 89th and Woodstock last summer, and although the #14 is fairly reliable, it still takes a long time to get downtown.
Trust me, the New Copper Penny will probably always be a destination spot for some people, but the neighborhood is changing due to the high rents closer in, and people wanting to get out of an over-saturated hipster population in lower SE. Plus this is the best area for Asian, Russian/Armenian, Hispanic stores and restaurants that kick ass.
When I moved away from 16th and Division the neighborhood had transformed from a somewhat scary industrial area with a few good spots to eat (thank you Dots for being who you are and sticking to your guns), to a place over-run with ironic t-shirts, overpriced shopping options, and bicyclists with a death wish.
I don’t mind being in Felony Flats. I’m sure it will become gentrified at some point, but I think the meth-heads and some of the other “interesting” people who populate the area will hold that off for a while.
