Don’t Mess With The Mouse

Mickey Mouse is everywhere these days.

Disney just bought Marvel Comics. They’ve been cornering the market on all things youthful for decades, but it seems they are branching out into the adult world.

Walt Disney allowed use of Donald Duck and Goofy for U of O and OSU logos in the ’70s. (I had a Oregon State/Goofy tee shirt that was worn the majority of my sixteenth year.) However, use of Disney characters have not always been authorized. In my misspent youth we used to consume little pieces of paper; pictures of Mickey Mouse dressed as the Wizard from Fantasia. (The black and white ones were double strength.) We called them “term papers” or “vitamins.” The police called them “blotter.” Mister Disney didn’t seem to mind.

Rumor has it that when Disney finds out you are using their licensed property, they go batshit crazy and send a team of lawyers to have a chat with you. I hope that’s all they do. One of my favorite stores that sells adult beverages and cigars has a picture of the main mouse himself welcoming the grown-ups. I don’t know if this has been okayed, so I’m not telling where this place is. I would hate for something awful to happen.

Oh, you don’t think something bad could happen? Really? Just watch this clip, and think about it the next time you tempt to cross the mouse… (Dialogue NSFW, so put the headphones on, eh?)
