I like things that entertain me, especially when they exist for the sole purpose of entertaining me. So something called Entertainment for People? Really sounds right up my alley. Who doesn’t like to be entertained right?
Before I go any further here are the facts: Entertainment for People is happening Thursday September 10th at The Woods. The show starts at 8pm (doors open at 7). Tickets are $10 online or $12 at the door.
Entertainment for People is “A night of really fun things, music included.”
It’s put on by the same lovely ladies who bring you Back Fence PDX. They’re branching out and producing new kinds of fun and tomorrow night’s show is just one of the many things you can expect to see from them in the near future.
I can’t tell you much about the overall experience of the event because, duh, it hasn’t happened yet, but let me detail for you a few of the reasons I’m excited to go:
1) I’ve yet to attend a Back Fence PDX event that hasn’t moved me to laughter or tears. Usually both.
2) The main goal of the event is to entertain ME (and maybe a few other people as well). As stated above I like being entertained.
3) It’s in a brand spanking new venue in my neighborhood and the only time I’ve been inside it they were still working on the remodel.
4) That new venue, The Woods… it used to be a funeral parlor. What’s more Portlandy than turning a funeral parlor into a place to hang out, chat with friends have a drink and be entertained? Not much.
5) They have some awesome talent lined up (Dan Kennedy, Beth Lisick, Fogarton, auGi, and Eastland Academy).
I’m not sure if I’ll be cringing or laughing my ass off but I’m looking forward to both.
Full disclosure: I know Melissa Lion (Back Fence PDX). She’s been on my podcast multiple times. I’ve been to many of her events. I’m not paying to get into the show (but I would).
