There are only a few local events that I am willing to blatantly pimp (I mean, extol the virtues of) as I do for Back Fence PDX. It’s not just because my beautiful raven-haired friend novelist Melissa Lion and her flaxen-haired comedienne business partner produce it, or because it’s a chance to gain 3 inches of imposing presence on my already 6′ tall frame when I dress up purdy in stilettos and shiny baubles.
But, no, these reasons are not the sole driving forces behind my compulsion to broadcast this regularly scheduled event to the world by whatever means afforded to me. I do this trolling because Back Fence PDX is — hands down — the most inexpensive and riveting way to get my voyeuristic fix. And I get to share this intimate experience with a room full of 400 of my closest friends.
This Wednesday, after waiting impatiently FOR MONTHS (also known as all summer), the live and local storytelling phenom Back Fence PDX is back with another intensely impressive line up of brave folks sharing their 8 minute long, un-memorized and never-before-heard stories. ALL FOR JUST 10 BUCKS. (You can buy tickets for 12 bucks at the door, but I don’t recommend you wait until then because THIS SHOW WILL SELL OUT.)
The storytelling theme this time around is Temporary Insanity, which promises to bring out some juicy secrets. I am especially looking forward to hearing the tantalizing tales of my friends Aaron Walker (dispenser of Too Much Information on twitter as @jarvitron) and Bridget Pilloud (no-nonsense empath who talks to the animals for a living and tweets as @petsaretalking). Add to that a 14-year-old actor/musician, a writer for a popular improv soap opera, and several other highly interesting folks — and sprinkle with free nom-nom-noms from Saint Cupcake and Back Fence PDX buttons on top — and you’ve got yourself a Wednesday night of monumentally thrilling entertainment.
RUN, don’t walk, and get your tickets RIGHT NOW. I’ll be there in my high heels, starving for the inside scoop on the temporary insanity of other people besides my own. For once.

And we just added an auctioneer to the list! An auctioneer. Someone stop me with this, I’m too excited for it.
