Food Carts Portland on NBC Nightly News

We knew NBC had been in town in late August to follow Dieselboi around on a typical food cart odyssey. We knew that they’d been at the food carts at SE Hawthorne & 11th late on a Friday evening to observe the scene for themselves. And we knew they’d been by Strange Love Live’s studios to watch the interview with both Dieselboi and Gregg Abbott from @whiffies.

And then we waited. And waited. And waited a little bit more…until earlier today, when the footage finally saw the light of day:

And if that’s not enough food cart love? Check out this companion video, featuring Jesse Sandoval (formerly of The Shins), Karen Brooks from The O, and our own Mayor Sam Adams, throwing the smackdown to NYC’s carts (& almost-ousted Mayor Bloomberg.)

Way to represent, Portland! And congratulations to Dieselboi, Greg (better known as @whiffies to a lot of us), Cami Kaos & Dr. Normal for your moment in the sun.

That’s great! Was it just my own bias, or did the PDX footage look *infinitely* more appetizing than the NYC footage?

Hi everyone! I’ve been writing for NileGuide.com about Portland’s awesome take on food carts for a few years now. I’m so happy that they’re finally getting the attention they deserve. Many a night has my tummy been saved by the late night pasta truck on 11th and Hawthorne! Three cheers for food carts!
