Flushing The Bike Plan Into The Sewer?

by Gil Johnson

Sam Adams, still our fair city’s mayor, is the Will Rogers of public works projects—he’s never met one he didn’t like.
Especially if it has something about it that’s trendy, green or sustainable.
Today, the City Council will vote on Adams’ proposal to siphon $20 million from Portland’s sewer fees to jump start the recently enacted 2030 [...]

Dear PDX Advice Guy

by Endless Monkeys

Dear PDX Advice Guy
Like a lot of recent transplants to Portland, I’ve started to think about ditching my car for a bike and public transportation. But I also like to go on adventures outside of Portland. I could use your input. Thanks!

Idaho Stop Law

I have been stuck at home the last couple of days, phasing in and out of coherence due to a nasty virus-induced fever. I’d love to be able to tell you that it was my mental state that makes the current debate over the Idaho Stop Law so surreal. Alas, it’s just the same old [...]

You know you live in a bike town when…

by Zed

It takes 3 weeks to get a service appointment at City Bikes. Now I know why I own 5 bikes. I could take my business elsewhere but there is something so satisfying about supporting an employee owned cooperative.
Ride your bike. If you don’t own one, buy one. From a local shop. We are fortunate to [...]

TriMet ticketing non-hung bicyclists on MAX

by Dieselboi

TriMet just baffles me.  First, they can’t figure out how to make their trains and stations safe and now they are blatantly kicking legitimate riders off.  It has been reported on TriMetiquette that bike riders on the Blue Line around 185th were not being allowed on with their bikes as there were no hooks available.  [...]
