If you cut me…

by Cosmic Charlie

…do I not bleed?
For the record, I love TriMet. I spend a sizable portion of my life commuting, sightseeing and just plain piddling around on the bus. At age fourteen I’d ride the bus from Sandy, Oregon into the big bad city. I’d travel out to Jantzen Beach on the #6 Union Avenue bus, spend [...]

TriMet Question of the Day

by Aaron

Dear TriMet: this evening’s MAX service disruption must’ve happened before 7:00pm, because that’s when I tried to catch a train and the station reader board indicated a problem.
Why was it not until 7:35 that you sent out a Service Alert message to those of us who have subscribed to the service? I’m pretty sure [...]

Just remove the fare machines

by Dieselboi

Instead of fixing them, I guess TriMet will just remove them. Pioneer Courhouse Square. While taking the photo, one of the workers yelled “TrimetDown.” I can only assume he meant the website.
On the bright side, they may actually be removing them to replace them with working systems.

No excuse for not having a valid fare on TriMet

TriMet fare inspectors have been traveling the yellow line MAX of late, checking fares and handing out tickets. I’m happy to see this. It is the first time in about 12-18 months since I had seen a fare inspector on the train and I ride daily.
While the inspector was walking [...]

Balls Out to the MAX!

by Cosmic Charlie

Christian over at TriMetiquette points out that today is the “Global No Pants Subway Ride Portland” event. What with the naked bike rides, naked roller-bladers and other flesh-friendly activities, Portland is certainly embracing its exhibitionistic side.
Timing is everything this time around; imagine trying to go pantsless outside two weeks ago? Brr.. Nothing to see [...]

TriMet MAX Yellow line down for 3+ days

by Dieselboi

HMMF.  I’m a little annoyed at TriMet for not getting the Yellow line up and running.  I know there is snow and ice out there and they can barely get their fleet up to 50%, but I want to whine anyway.  I see that the Blue and Red lines are running properly every 15 minutes, [...]

Public feedback halts TriMet #6, #70 route changes

by A. L. Venable

In late September and early October, TriMet held public meetings and opened their e-mail inbox to receive comments on a series of proposed route changes that would occur in May 2009. The changes affected a number of routes, however, a lot of feedback (including my own here as well as to TriMet directly) was received [...]

Last remaining TriMet shelter…

by Dieselboi

Originally uploaded by dieselboi

So, if you ventured downtown any time in the past 30 years, you would be familiar with the 70’s era bus shelters that dotted SW 5th and 6th avenues. That was before the most recent green line MAX construction. When they first began construction and moved the buses off to [...]

Safer? Eh, who knows?

by capricious

I’ve noticed on my rides via MAX that there are a lot more TriMet employees on them these days. The first time I saw one I scrambled to make sure I had my ticket in reach when asked for it. This, however, was not the case! So the boyo and I were wondering, were they [...]

More on the proposed TriMet route changes

by A. L. Venable

Following up from last week’s post on the possible route change on the #6 line, TriMet is also proposing changes to the #10, #14, #35, #54, and #56 routes.
This is part of the last phase of the Portland Mall renovation and if these changes are accepted, they would go into effect next May and [...]

No more parking on 5th and 6th

by Dieselboi

Well, the parking honeymoon is over on 5th and 6th downtown. This morning, when walking to work, I realized it was kinda quiet and then noticed there were no cars parked on SW 5th. I also saw that over the weekend they put down lane lines all along SW 5th. [...]
