Who in their right mind would *buy* a turkey sandwich from a sandwich shop the day after Thanksgiving?

Well, when it’s from the much-awaited Bunk Sandwiches (helmed by Tommy Habetz), it may not be such a crazy thing after all (I sprung for the side of caramelized roasted brussel sprouts as well, yum!)

Bunk opened about two weeks ago. I heard the rumors, realized it was mere blocks from my office, and tried to go there for lunch two days later. I wasn’t the only one jonesing for decent sandwiches, alas – lines were already out the door, and the space is teeny-tiny. Since we were short on time, we took a pass.

My next shot? The Friday after Thanksgiving – and even at 1:30 pm, the joint was hopping. As it turns out, a friend of mine was in shortly after I was. His resolution is to eat his way through the lunch menu.

If that amazing-looking porchetta sandwich is still there next time I’m back? (The goal is to have a regularly-rotating group of 5-7 sandwiches?) That’s a resolution I can get behind!

But wait — they’re doing breakfast sandwiches as well (including biscuit sandwiches.)

I might live to regret the fact that they’re so close to my office after all…!
