Why didn’t I know about this already?

I’m the proud owner of an iPod Touch that rides on free WiFi when I’m out of the house. My primary machine’s a laptop, and I like to work from somewhere other than my house a lot of the time (especially on days like today.) And – I know and like Adam DuVander – we travel in the same tech circles (plus run into each other in random places around town.)

I also know and love the Personal Telco Project (especially since the never-did-work-for-me MetroFi has given up the ghost), and am thankful for their efforts. But if I need to find a WiFi node that also has pie? Is open 24 hours? Located near the place I’m going to be tonight? Or has a way to send my search via text message? I’m going to be using WiFiPDX from now on.

Even *after* I score my much anticipated iPhone 3G on July 11th…

It looks absolutely, positively gorgeous out there.

If I could, I’d sneak out for an afternoon cocktail at an outdoor venue close to work. I could even bring the laptop, find a place with wifi (thanks to local PDX resource Unthirsty), and WFB (work-from-bar). No one would ever have to know that I wasn’t actually in the office, would they?

But I can’t. (That old ‘must be responsible’ gene kicks in every time. Not to mention the whole ‘my co-workers are all now reading this blog, so I’ve blown my cover’ self-outing…!)

Sneak out for me and tell me where I should be if I could be right now, will you…?
