In the midst of a bustling (and fantastic) WordCamp Portland put on by Aaron Hockley and a fantastic host of volunteers we took the opportunity to talk with Matt Mullenweg, and since I never resist the urge to pass on a little knowledge we kick the interview off with a martini lesson. He was a quick study. Enjoy!

When we originally schedule Friday’s guest, Aaron Hockley, it was a strategic move. We decided months ago to schedule the episode a week after ticket sales for the 2nd Wordcamp Portland opened thinking that it would be perfect timing. Ticket sales would already be under way but there would still be plenty of room for those hearing about the event on the show to sign up.

Oh boy were we wrong. By the time Aaron and Dale joined us in studio people were already signing up on the wait list.

Food is something near and dear to all our hearts and stomachs so I know it’ll be an interesting night as we find out more about how Food Carts Portland is covering Portland’s thriving food cart scene.

Portland is a town full of bloggers, and a bunch of those bloggers (including OurPDX) are running WordPress. At WordCamp Portland we saw a preview of features coming in WordPress 2.7; I’m sure I wasn’t the only one in the room excited about the new bits.

Local blogger Chris O’Rourke and I are hosting a party this Friday to celebrate the release of WordPress 2.7. Come hang out with a bunch of bloggers, upgrade your WordPress blog, talk about WordPress, or get some help. Don’t use WordPress? Come anyways. We’ll gladly help you figure out how to convert from another blog platform if you’re interested.

In addition to bloggy goodness, we’re also holding a Blogger Food Drive. The Oregon Food Bank is currently handing out more food than they’re bringing in, so any contributions would be appreciated. Bring your non-perishable food donations to the WordPress party, or drop them off anytime this week at CubeSpace (622 SE Grand Avenue).

If you’re joining us for the WordPress party, please RSVP on Upcoming so we have a general count – we’re planning to have some snacks.

It’s always funny to me that Portland is the largest city in the state of Oregon, because everywhere I go I’m reminded of how small our fair city really is.
